Problem:
When the iPhone or Apple Watch are presented to the lock, a checkmark graphic will be
displayed on the device when the credential in the pass is sent by the lock. However,
guest eKeys and common area locks often have schedules associated with them. If the
user presents their Pass to the lock outside of the scheduled timeframe, the Pass will be
accepted by the lock and that triggers a checkmark graphic to be displayed on the
iPhone or Apple Wallet. Meanwhile, the lock firmware will determine if the Pass can be
used at this time, and if not, an invalid credential animation and beep sound will happen
on the lock.
Solution:
There isn’t a problem, per se, except that currently there is no way to inform Apple
Wallet that the Pass won’t work due to being outside the schedule. The user can’t unlock
the door with their Pass outside of the schedule. Attempting to use the AccessIQ mobile
app will also confirm that the user can’t unlock the door outside of the schedule.
