The fastest and most reliable way for users to on-board is with the following steps:
○ User provides their email address to the Property Manager which they use to operate their mobile phone.
○ PM sends the new user invitation via the email provided to them.
○ From the invitation email the user receives, they install the mobile app on their mobile phone using the app link provided by choosing either Continue with Apple (iOS only) or Continue with Google.
○ This approach uses the user’s existing identity from Apple’s or Google’s environment. A new account in the multi-family cloud is created using the email identity provided by Apple or Google.
○ NOTE: For iOS users, it only works if the user does not select Hide My Email when they sign into their Apple account.
○ NOTE: If available, the user’s first and last name will also be set based upon their Apple or Google account. If name information is not available, “apple user” or “google user” will be used. First and Last names can be set from the My Account page in the mobile app Settings menu.
○ Since the user has created their new account using the same email address that was provided to the Property Manager, the new user’s account will be auto-populated with the eKeys provided by the PM.
○ In summary user steps are:
■ Provide email to PM.
■ Install app from invitation email.
■ Continue with Apple or Google.
■ Violà!
iOS users that choose "Hide My Email" when they sign into their Apple account:
○ User provides their email address to the Property Manager which they use to operate their mobile phone.
○ Property Manager sends the new user invitation via the email provided to them.
○ From the invitation email the user receives, they install the mobile app on their mobile phone using the app link provided.
○ User chooses Continue with Apple.
○ This approach uses the user’s existing identity from Apple’s environment. A new account in the multi-family cloud is created using the email identity provided by Apple.
○ The user chooses Hide My Email when they sign into their Apple account. This results in the new user’s account being created with a “relay” style email address.
○ Since the user has created their new account using the different email than what was provided to the PM, the new user’s account will NOT be auto-populated with the eKeys provided by the PM. The user will see a screen saying that they do not have any eKeys. The user needs to return to the invitation email and tap on the ACCEPT YOUR EKEYS button.
Tenant provides email address not associated with their Apple or Google account
○ User provides an email address to the Property Manager and it is not one they use for their Apple or Google account.
○ PM sends the new user invitation via the email provided to them.
○ From the invitation email the user receives, they install the mobile app on their mobile phone using the app link provided.
○ User chooses Continue with Email.
○ Since the new user does not have an account in the system, yet, they need to Sign Up first. Getting operational with their new account requires the following steps:
■ Enter their first and last name
■ Enter their email address
■ Enter their desired password
■ NOTE: Two simple user mistakes can happen when doing the manual Sign-up with Email:
1) mis-typing their email address, and/or
2) mis-typing their desired password.
● If the tenant complains that they didn’t receive the confirmation email, have them check their spam/junk folder. If the confirmation email does show up, the user likely mis-typed their email in which case they need to re-do the Sign Up process.
● The user can tap on the reveal icon in the password entry field to confirm that they typed the password correctly.
■ Create Account
■ Wait for the confirmation email to be received and then tap on VERIFY ACCOUNT.
○ Return to the mobile app. Since the user has created their new account using the same email that was provided to the PM, the new user’s account will be auto-populated with the eKeys provided by the PM.
